The IMPEDE embolization plug is for the treatment of conditions in the peripheral vasculature.

IMPEDE consists of an anchor coil and a biodegradable polyurethane-based shape memory polymer (SMP) foam plug with a proximal marker band.  The SMP foam is formulated to expand from its crimped state when deployed into a blood vessel.  The scaffolding design provides an efficient structure for fast, stable clot formation.

 

Fast, Stable and Atraumatic Delivery and Occlusion – Innovative design allows for quick, solid deployment and full occlusion with lower radial force and high vessel conformability even in turns.  The anchor coil enables implantation in arteries and veins, reducing the risk of device migration.  Thrombosis begins as thousands of clots rapidly form within the polymer struts of the foam.

Easy Navigation – The IMPEDE embolization plug advances through tortuous anatomy with limited friction and less potential to damage blood vessels.

Clinically Effective – The shape memory polymer (SMP) has been proven clinically effective with collagen formation during advanced stages of healing.
